Big City Lights.

Hello my Internet Lovelies, I hope you are all feeling fabulous and enjoying the sunshine that seems to be raying down on us at the moment...
A couple of weeks ago I spent a few nights in the big smoke, otherwise known as Auckland. I have never been to Auckland, so it was really exciting to experience another part of this glorious country. I had an absolute blast and spent faaaaar too much money, but come on, we just do not have the shopping like they do.
I went with 3 friends, Sophie, Becky and Samuel, and we had so much fun together taking the town by storm. The purpose of the trip was to see the one and only 1975 live in concert and it was like a dream. The show was absolutely incredible and one of the best shows I have ever seen. The music was fantastic and the atmosphere was preeeetty rad.

Auckland is a really pretty city, but I honestly don't not think I could live there if it wasn't for a job or something like that. Me being a country bumpkin I found the huge amounts of people rather overwhelming.

We had a few hiccups along the way; when we first arrived we landed in a hellish situation where they would not allow Sophie and I to stay at the backpackers as we were under 18. This was an incredibly frustrating situation, but quickly sorted after getting our parents to write formal emails and then talking to some young foreign dude who was quite chill and just wanted us to have a good time.
The second was when us girls got followed by a man, which gave us a bit of a fright, Sophie just found it flattering, but for me scenes of TAKEN were flashing through my mind at high speed.

Auckland sure knows how to supply the goods though, The food is unreal. There is soooo much food. Everywhere. I couldn't believe how many restaurants, cafes and fast food joints lined the streets. You definitely could not go hungry, that is for sure.
The shops are also amaaaazing. I'm a big shopper me, so strolling the streets for bargains definitely was the highlight for me. Where I live we really struggle to find shops that aren't mainstream, so it was cool to get to find cute wee boutiques with different clothes and accessories in them. The shopping was definitely deadly. I put a major dent in my bank balance.

Anyway, enough of shopping talk, here are some pictures, with stories along the way.

Airport pics with the crew.

Selfies Once we finally got into our room, which we fully overheated in and were basically required to wear no clothes, constantly.

Straight away we hit Queen St. Here are a few places that I thought were pretty.

I came up with the idea for Sam to get a Tattoo, It was so much fun to watch him writhe in pain as we took photos and laughed at his misery. - sorry sam, you actually were very brave.

Ice-Cream by the waterfront. It was such a beautiful day. The gelato was also beautiful.

We had a girls afternoon. It was so lovely, we just chilled out and felt the happy vibes.... along the way we had the coolest experience...

Roaming the streets of Auckland were some  hare krishnasthey were honestly the happiest most calm people I have ever seen. They were so full of life, love and music. We found them incredibly inspiring and amusing. The songs they sung were also very catchy.. where can I get an album??

Me looking cheesy in Auckland woop woop.

On the way to the concert we had the most interesting taxi ride ever. We were driven by this man who was extremely on edge and was driving the automatic car in a manual way. He kept switching from D to N in between turning the air-con on and off constantly. As we prayed for our lives we couldn't help laugh at the dramatic way he looked over the steering wheel as the car began to give in.

Concert readyyyyyy..

Obviously not my picture but how fantastic is Matty?? Ah that concert was blissful. The album has been on repeat ever since and I'm still suffering from Post-concert depression. Don't try and tell me that it's not a real thing because I can promise you it is.

After the concert we basically pub crawled fast food places and searched the city streets for the band who promised us they would be out and about.

I had such a great time in Auckland, it was so nice to get away for a few days, even though I missed my family back home. I am yet to unpack, yes I am extremely lazy and disorganised but I will always treasure that wee getaway.

There will be a few more posts in the next few days as I have gotten up to some more adventures since then.

Until next time, love, happiness and food.
Lu xxxx
