Hello Internet Lovelies. How are you going this week? What have you been up to? I hope you are all happy and content!
A Few days ago my family of 4 visited a little Zoo in my city called Willowbank. Its super cute, with a petting zoo, a kiwi cove and many other things. Its a very cool zoo though as there are no animals that are in small cages. Most of the animals have a lot of space to move around in, which I really like.
Dad had some free tickets so we decided to have a nice family day out. It's not too often that we all go out together; now with me not living at home it can be hard to find the time to go on adventures, so it was lovely to actually get to spend time together away from home.
I am constantly missing my family, and even though I visit them often it is nice to get out and see things. It changes the environment, and causes us to have proper conversations and a bit of fun. Of course we have the odd fight here and there too haha.
Most of the birds walk free which is nice but also slightly scary, when they are really big and like to approach you. Even me at 18 had to hold on to dad at points. Yes I am a scaredy cat, but look at it!!
I forgot to take my zoom lens which was a shame, as I could have got some amazing pictures of the wallabies and monkeys. But they were still super cute.
I think my favourite animals at Willowbank would be the otters. They have so so much character and love putting on a show. They are super naughty and like to fight with each other, but I just think they are so much fun.
My little otter watching the otters.
Baby Ducklings!!! First we saw them in the pond and then mumma obviously decided to take them for a walk. Ducklings are so cute at this time of year, I just wanted to pick one - or 10 up, and take them home!
Now this one was a character! I laugh just thinking about him. As soon as he saw the camera he flew to the front of the cage and started posing. He also liked to say "hello" and "do you want a biscuit" every two seconds. He was so hilarious and definitely put on a show for us! He actually made me want a bird in fact.
Mum used to want to get a couple of kune kune pigs, but after seeing these ones dad said, "I'm definitely glad I put my foot down."
Lil was super excited by all of the animals. So glad I got this face on camera.
My little outfit of the day.
As much as I am scared of peacocks, they are very very pretty.
This gorgeous horse was not interested in me at all. I tried to get Lillian to stop feeding him while I got a picture, but he didn't care anyway.
Llamas. No thanks.
I honestly can't believe how crazy the goats are haha. They are so photogenic though, I couldn't believe it.
Lil "milking" the cows.
The property is just so pretty. I love the natural element of it. Such a nice environment for the animals.
My two specials.
Lillian the explorer.
I must admit. I love feeding the eels. You get a little pot of minced meat and feed it to them on spoons. The eels are absolutely humungous, and as much as they are disgusting vampire type things, they are so cool.
Lunch was also a winner. This was a taco type bowl thingy and completely delicious.
I had such a lovely day out with my family. Its times like these where I miss mum a lot, but I'm still so glad we can do these type of things.
One thing is will say though is, don't take your family for granted. Sometimes you might think its silly to do things with your family, but one day you will treasure those moments most.
Until next time,
Love Lu. xxxxx
