Man that title is a bloody mouthful.
Hello everyone. It is Monday evening (actually 11.30pm) and I am currently cosied up in bed with a stomach full of tomato soup and bread, listening to the rain falling on the roof, and I must admit I am feeling rather happy. The last two weeks have been rather awful if I am honest, so right now feeling quite content is very nice.
Yesterday was the high tea, fashion show and auction fundraiser, that was held for my mum, and it was honestly one of the best days ever. I have a blog post for that though so will not go into details. COMING SOON!!!
Anyway, a part of this day was the "Blokes Baking Bad Bake Off" This required men, and only men to produce a cake, good or bad, to be judged and auctioned off for money. It was such a fun idea and so I was determined to make Sandhu participate. You see though, Sandhu has never baked a cake before so I thought it may be an interesting experience. Surprisingly though he produced a masterpiece that went down a treat and sold for a whopping $45!!!
I took some photos - much to his disgust, so here they are for you.
Okay so we may have cheated slightly.. Just slightly, but I mean come on, if he had made a cake from scratch it probably would have been a flop.. - sorry... (;
Delicious. Cake Batter is seriously the best. My Favourite part is always licking the beaters. Sandhu is a weirdo though, he doesn't like it. I must get him in the kitchen more often.
He is going to absolutely kill me.
So while we waited for the cake to cook we took lovely selfies on the big camera. Harder that it looks thats for sure.
NEXT MORNING:
Icing time.. YUM!
Look how pretty, ahhhhh bless.
The Finished product wow. Honestly how good does this look. Talk about giving someone a heart attack though. Diabetes alert!!!!
The proud baker and his masterpiece.
DAD'S TURN:
My dad also made a cake which was pretty cool, he was very excited though and being a builder was very OCD with it. His cake, his ideas.
I was very impressed as the only other time I have ever seen him bake a cake was when I was about 10, and we wanted to make a sponge for mum for when she came home from work or something. Lets just say it was a complete disaster. - More like a flat pancake...
Luckily this cake was a raging success. Look how beautiful it looks. This was a hat that dad designed and I am super impressed. Obviously he took a few tips from mother duck.
So these were the final products in our house-hold. "Mrs Buckets hat" and "Delhi Delight."
This cake was sold to a lady whose son was having a birthday so that was perfect.
Lots of other men produced some awesome cakes. We had turnovers, lavender cakes, lemon cakes, carrot cakes. All absolutely beautiful and all made with love.
This cake here was Made by a friend of ours called Paul. A few days before he text me asking for mums favourite quote and when I saw the cake I was so happy. "Be happy with who you are." A great quote and a great cake. This was the winner of course. It had to be and today I have probably eaten way too much of it. Blissful.
Well that is another post, and there will be another up tomorrow about the auction etc so look forward to that.
Fun times were had, congrats to Sandhu for his first ever cake, and see you tomorrow.
Much Love.
Lucia xxxx
