Many people experience terrible things each day; right now you just have to watch the news to see worlds being torn apart in front of peoples eyes. Poverty, hunger, inequality and war all exist, and I really believe that we take things for granted. I understand that life isn't simple for everyone, trust me I know this first hand. But I think everybody has the time to take a moment and reflect on the good things happening in their lives.
Being positive is so important, it helps you to get on with your life and be happy. It helps you to see the good in others and yourself. Positivity is a key to happiness, and so even though I will not make daily Facebook posts and fill up my friends' timeline, I will make a post on a few positive things going on in my life.
A few weeks ago, school split for holidays. this allows us two weeks to take a rest and refresh our minds and bodies. For a lot of these two weeks all I did was catch up on sleep and get my mind back to where I need it to be. It was really nice to chill out and spend time with myself and my closest friends and family. I am not one who feels the need to be out every day and every night, Im quite happy doing my own thing.
So here are 5 positive things I have taken from my two weeks break that I thought I would share with you.
1. Buy Flowers.
Mum and I visited the cutest little florist shop in town, run by the funniest men you will ever meet in your life. We looked around for so long, as they had a wee garden outside with little bits and pieces everywhere. (I would love to do a photo shoot there sometime.) In the end I was determined to buy something, so I picked out three roses which smelled divine. Mum ending up buying them for me which made the whole thing better; I mean who doesn't like having flowers bought for them?
They are still sitting in a vase on my duchess, but unfortunately have died. They look so nice though, I just cant seem to throw them away.
Anyway the moral of the story is, that flowers can easily make your day, or somebody else's day brighter.
2. Read a good book.
Reading is a huge part of my life. I find that there is nothing better than being lost in a world far away from my own. Books are almost an escape for me and I hold them very close to my heart. These holidays I was running very low on books to read as the ones I ordered had not yet arrived. But I pulled out "Will Grayson, Will Grayson" by John Green and thoroughly enjoyed it.
A recommended read for sure.
For me there is nothing better than opening a fresh new book and smelling the pages. Does that make me unusual?
3. Re-Watch your old favourite movies.
When I was around 12-14 the Twilight books and movies were a huge part of my life. I was a massive fan who owned lots of merchandise and books dedicated to "the boys of twilight." Yes Robert Pattinson was my one true love.
I know a lot of people hate anything to do with this story of vampires, werewolves and an unbearable love triangle, but I love, love love it!
So as sad as it may seem, I spent 5 nights of my holidays re-watching the twilight movies. Honestly I fell in love all over again. Nothing beats a bit of RPattz and KStew.
Whether its twilight or just an old classic. I dare you to go back in time and watch your old favourite movies. You really wont regret it. You will once again be lost in a world that you grew to love so much.
4. Family Nights.
Family is so so important to me. Recently we renovated our back yard with decking, a spa and a fabulous pizza oven; which has given us the chance to have BBQ's and fun in the comfort of our own home.
So, on a freezing winters night we had around my older brother and his lovely girlfriend to break in the new oven. To be quite honest it was a complete failure as dad was still working out how to create "the perfect temperature" for the pizzas to cook. After two, we had to resort to the trusty inside oven to cook our dinner, but even so it was really nice to spend some time with people I care about a lot. Since that failure we have had a couple more outdoor nights and nothing beats sitting around and laughing with the people who know you the best.
5. Little extras.
I couldn't quite pick a fifth and final so incorporated a few into one. Sorry.
THE SPA. This may be the best thing in my life right now. In fact I'm about to head out to laze around in this bad boy right about now.
Shopping days with Nana and mum. They wouldn't let me take a photo so yes its another selfie.
JUICE. There is a local cafe that has to be my favourite ever. In fact I may take you all there sometime in the near future. Their juice may be the best ever though.
(Mum is still learning to take photos. she failed oops.)
Who can resist an adorable puppy? Definitely not me!
And that my dear friends, is the end of my positives list. I challenge you to write a list and reflect on the things that make you happy.
Fill your heart with whats important, and be done with all the rest.
See you soon, have a great week.
Lots of love. Lucia xxxx
